Traditional tension-bracing systems can introduce complexity in design, coordination, and installation. DonoBrace® streamlines the process with standardized components, cut-to-fit tension rods, and high-capacity performance. The result is a simplified approach to tension bracing that supports efficient installation and creates more usable building space.

Standardized parts = streamlined installation

From the machined nuts and washers to the couplers, high-tensile rod, and end plates, all DonoBrace® parts are standardized. This consistency and intuitive design are keys to a more straightforward assembly and installation process.

DonoBrace® integrates easily with common structural framing systems. Four primary DonoBrace® systems (DB5, DB6, DB7, and DB8) cover a wide range of design needs typically addressed by multiple traditional tension bracing options. These four systems provide allowable stress design (ASD) capacities ranging from 19.4 kips to 61.4 kips and offer solutions across a broad range of project requirements.

The DonoBrace® fully threaded rod design allows for easy adjustment on site. Installers can fine-tune DonoBrace® alignment and tension without relying on fixed-length components. Because the system uses familiar, standardized parts and an adaptable configuration, training for DonoBrace® assembly and installation is simplified.

Cut-to-fit and easy to adjust

Meeting deadlines can feel nearly impossible when components don’t arrive, are the wrong size, or don’t fit onsite.

Unlike other bracing systems that rely on precise factory measurements, DonoBrace® tension rods are cut-to-fit onsite. DonoBrace® can also be pre-assembled off-site or in the field, with minimal adjustments required during installation.

This flexibility allows crews to adapt to real-world conditions and helps:

  • Reduce installation delays
  • Minimize rework
  • Support faster project completion.

Less bracing, more open bays

DonoBrace® offers higher capacity compared to many traditional tension bracing systems. For example:

  • The 5/8" DB5 provides a similar capacity to a traditional 1" system.
  • The 1" DB8 system delivers capacity comparable to a 4x4x1/4" angle.

Because DonoBrace® is high-capacity bracing, less overall bracing may be required to meet structural demands. With fewer bracing members, projects may benefit from:

  • Increased layout flexibility
  • Improved equipment access
  • More occupiable space within the structure

In the Big D DonoBrace® case study, engineers reduced braced bays from five to two, demonstrating how high-capacity tension bracing can improve space utilization.
